Projects
We work with a range of commerical, charitable and educational organisations to help individuals fulfill their career ambitions. A few of our partnerships are listed below.
- Striding Out has successfully secured a contract to deliver the Future Jobs fund in partnership with Social Enterprise London. Over the course of the programme we aim to secure 500 jobs for young people in London. Striding Out has identified job opportunities within it’s business network, and we are responsible for the job brokerage to match young people to the jobs available. We are also providing employability skills to young people to help them through the interview process and providing coaching support to the young people during the six months of employment. The Future Jobs Fund is providing around £1 billion to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the labour market. The Fund aims to create 150,000 jobs, which have a social and/or environmental focus. The jobs are aimed primarily at 18-24 year olds who have been out of work for a year. The fund is run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in partnership with the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG).
- We have worked with the National Council of Graduate Entrepeneurship to create a tool kit for University Careers Advisers to better understand and explain social enterprise to students. This project was funded by the Office of the Third Sector.
- Advisor to The Aldridge Foundation - The Foundation was established in July 2006 by Rod Aldridge, the founder of the Capita Group, to further the work of his charitable trust. The Foundation is primarily focused on the effects of educational underachievement and social exclusion on the young, but also in removing the barriers to the reform of public services in general. We are advising them on career and entrepreneurial support services for young people in education.
- We delivered a contract for University Talent, part of West Focus , a consortium of seven Univerisities across South West London, to encourage social enterprises and small businesses to provide work placements for students. We delivered their brokerage service activelyconnecting businesses to the student workforce.
- Re-Evolve part of Vital Regeneration is an innovative careers advice service run by 16-25 year olds from Westminster.
Young volunteers gain confidence and direction in their career through creating their own resources to help other young people decide what careers they want to get into. The volunteers benefit from the hands-on experiences in their chosen industry and as a result become more enterprising and business-minded as they are given the responsibility of organising networking events and career workshops for schools and colleges. Striding Out is delivering the “Be Confident” Coaching programme for their young volunteers comprising of a series of 4 workshops to develop their confidence in leadership and project management skills. - YouthWorks is a cutting edge new project from London Youth, which aims to train a new generation of youth workers with a specialism in Youth Action.
YouthWorks full-time volunteers will volunteer for 6 months in a host youth club. During this time they will complete their Level 1 Foundation in Youth Work qualification and run a youth action project in their youth club. Participants will be trained in skills needed to help them facilitate a youth action project in their youth club. They will need to inspire 5 young people in their club to run a small project that benefits the club in some way. Young people will be able to access up to £2000 for these projects. Striding Out is working with YouthWorks to deliver our comprehensive youth leadership and peer to peer coaching programme over a course of 6 months. This comprises of regular monthly one to one coaching sessions and group coaching workshops where young people will be able to work on personal development issues such as increasing confidence, managing time and achieving goals. As well as this they will learn to mentor and coach each other and bring coaching skills into their Youth Clubs.
